Law Enforcement Memorial 2021 Published: 26 April 2021 26 April 2021 Yuma, Arizona - On Saturday, May 15th, 2021 the Fraternal Order of Police, Yuma Lodge #24 will host the 44th Annual Peace Officer Memorial Day Services at the location of the Fallen Officer Monument, (Pacific Ave Athletic Complex 1700 E 8th St. Yuma). This annual event is a special time to honor and remember our dedicated law enforcement professionals for their sacrifices in making the Yuma area a safer place to live. The memorial service will start at 7:00 p.m. The one-hour program consists of remembering law enforcement professionals who have either been killed or died in the line of duty, as well as honoring those who still serve.  The Yuma Police Department’s Honor Guard Team will post the United States Flag and conduct a 21-gun salute in remembrance of our fallen brothers and sisters.

(KYMA, KECY) - On Friday morning at approximately 6:32, the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force (YCNTF) served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 1700 block of S. Avenue A. Reynaldo Perez The YCNTF is a multi-agency task force comprised of officers and agents from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), Yuma Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations. Authorities discovered about 2.18 pounds of packaged methamphetamines at the residence, with an estimated street value of $19,606.

On September 30, 2004, Manuel Joe COTA III was convicted on 1 count of Sexual conduct with a minor (Attempted). On October 24, 2018, Manuel Joe COTA III was convicted on 1 count Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Manuel Joe COTA III is a level 3 sex offender with a high risk to re-offend.

Officers and agents will collect unwanted, unused and expired pharmaceuticals during a take back event. YPD says unused prescriptions in home medicine cabinets are susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. The abuse of these types of drugs is skyrocketing across the country, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses associated with pharmaceuticals.

(KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has issued a Level 3 sex offender notification for the area surrounding the 1400 block of 15th Street. Officers say 40-year-old Manuel Joe Cota III is now living in that vicinity. Cota was convicted of attempted sexual conduct with a minor in 2004. In 2018, he was found guilty of one count of failing to register as a sex offender. Cota is considered a level 3 offender who is at high risk to repeat his crimes. Cota is five foot five, and weighs around 175-pounds. He has brown hair and eyes.
