The 36 newly awarded first class graduates from Sokoto State University has been assured of getting a full scholarship for their Masters and Doctorate degrees.
The visitor to the school and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, stated this while delivering his convocation speech at the convocation ground on Saturday.
The governor also in his response to the demand of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, announced the renaming of the institution’s Senate building after the late pioneer Chancellor of the school, Umar Ali Shinkafi.
He also announced that the newly constructed Library complex of the school will be named after the second Chancellor of the school, late Barrister Inuwa Abdul-Kadir, who until his death was the second Chancellor of the institution after late Shinkafi.

BUA Cement Plc, a subsidiary of BUA Group, has received an award of recognition from Okpella Graduates Association in Okpella Community, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to a statement titled ‘BUA Cement Plc bags Okpella recognition award’, the award honours the cement firm for fulfilling its role in the Community Development Agreement signed between the organisation and the community.
The award was presented to the Managing Director, BUA Cement, Yusuf Binji, in the company of General Manager Administration, BUA Cement, Richard Gidaddo and Plant Director, BUA Cement, Ahmed Idris, a statement signed by the firm said.

The association, in a visit to BUA Cement in Okpella, presented the award to Yusuf Binji, the Managing Director, BUA Cement in company of Richard Gidaddo, General Manager Administration, BUA Cement and Ahmed Idris, Plant Director, BUA Cement.

BUA Cement, Nigeria’s second largest cement company, has announced full year revenues of N209billion in its unaudited 2020 Full Year financial accounts representing an increase of 19% from the corresponding period in 2019. The company also announced a 16% increase in gross profits to N95.4billion in 2020 from N82.4billion Naira in 2019. This further consolidates BUA Cement’s position as one of Nigeria’s most profitable companies – a position it is expected to strengthen further with the commissioning of its new 3 million Metric Tonnes Sokoto Cement Plant in 2021 and the addition of 3 new lines of 9 million metric tonnes total capacity in Adamawa, Edo and Sokoto States by 2023 for which it recently signed an agreement with Sinoma CBMI. This is expected to bring BUA Cement’s total capacity to 20million metric tonnes per annum upon completion.
