Not to spoil anyone’s morning, but the decennial redistricting fight has begun.
The process kicked off when the U.S. Census Bureau announced each state’s official population Monday. And with that, the number of seats each state gets allocated in the House of Representatives. As a growing state, Florida gets one more member of Congress and with that, one more electoral vote for president.
Florida has added to its congressional delegation after every census since the 1890 count. That means the state will be up to 28 House members and 30 electoral votes. More clout nationally, but still a letdown because most estimates had projected an additional two seats. Where d our other seat go?
