Earthquake strikes western Japan
An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 4.6 shook western Japan at 00:26 a.m. local time on Monday. The Japan Meteorological Agency says there is no tsunami threat.
The agency says the quake registered an intensity of 5-minus on the Japanese seismic scale of zero to 7 in Yuasa Town, Wakayama Prefecture.
An intensity of 4 and 3 were registered in other municipalities in the prefecture.
