Golovkin-Szeremeta DAZN Weigh-In Report From Hollywood, Florida

Golovkin-Szeremeta DAZN Weigh-In Report From Hollywood, Florida Gennadiy Golovkin aims to put a stamp on his second middleweight title reign. The next step in that journey comes Friday evening, when Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (40-1-1, 35KOs) faces mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta (21-0, 5KOs) atop a DAZN livestream from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Both boxers made weight for the bout, which kicks off a big fight weekend for the sports streaming service. Golovkin has never come close to missing weight through 22 career title fights, holding true to that trend in tipping the scale at a shredded 159.2 pounds. Szeremeta weighed in at 159 pounds for his first career title fight.

The pressure is now on Gennady Golovkin to impress

The pressure is now on Gennady Golovkin to impress AFTER 14 months out of action, Gennady Golovkin returns to the ring on Friday night with the chance to make history in his clash with mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta. Just 24 hours before his great rival Saul Alvarez challenges Callum Smith for two of the four super-middleweight belts, “Triple G” will attempt to successfully defend a version of the 160lb title, this time the IBF strap, for a record-breaking 21st time, nudging him beyond Bernard Hopkins (20). There is no doubt, however, that his star has faded since he was beaten by Canelo in their rematch back in September of 2018. Victories over Steve Rolls and then a decision against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, which reclaimed a portion of the title, have only partially reminded the world of Golovkin’s class.

Gennadiy Golovkin vs Kamil Szeremeta - Big Fight Preview & Predictions

GGG takes on his mandatory challenger this Friday night live on DAZN. The Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood is the setting this Friday night as we see the return of a pound for pound star at the head of affairs. Gennadiy Golovkin (40-1-1, KO35) makes his long awaited ring return after fourteen months away, and he defends his IBF and IBO Middleweight titles against mandatory challenger, Kamil Szeremeta (21-0, KO5). Golovkin aims to make a record breaking 21st defence with victory in this one. Kazakh wrecking ball Golovkin has been patiently waiting for a trilogy match with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for what seems a lifetime, but time isn’t Golovkin’s friend at 38, and he is forced to settle for another defence of his belt here with Canelo otherwise engaged this Saturday with Callum Smith.

Fighters of note include former world title challenger John Ryder, rising super middleweight Ali Akhmedov, and WBA super featherweight champion Hyun Mi Choi. Undercard confirmed for #GGGSzeremeta on December 18, including two world title clashes ⬇️ Ali Akhmedov vs Carlos Góngora (IBO World Super-Middleweight title) Hyun Mi Choi vs Calista Silgado (WBA Super-Featherweight title) Islington’s Ryder (28-5, 16 KO) seemingly upset Callum Smith in November of last year, only for the judges to, let’s not mince words, screw him over. He was subsequently linked to a number of potential big fights, including a clash with Daniel Jacobs, but will instead meet American prospect checker Mike Guy (12-5-1, 5 KO), who’s gone to split decisions in three of his last four.
