Clinical leaders have lauded the GP led vaccination centre at the Forum in Northallerton as a phenomenal success , but from June 21 the site is being returned to use as a community centre. Other vaccination centres and a pharmacy will play a bigger role instead. Dr Sally Tyrer, GP partner at Thirsk s Lambert Medical Centre and clinical director of Hambleton South Primary Care Network, said: It s been phenomenally successful. As the programme moves towards vaccinating younger and more mobile cohorts, we re already seeing evidence people are choosing to book via the national booking service, rather than waiting to be contacted by their GPs.

Indian Covid variant confirmed in North Yorkshire

A NUMBER of confirmed cases of the Indian variant of Covid-19 in the county has been confirmed by North Yorkshire county Council. At a meeting of the local regeneration forum today, Louise Wallace, director of public health with NYCC said: There are a small number of cases of the Indian variant identified across North Yorkshire. Contact tracing is continuing to be carried out to identify cases. Our rates of Covid remain low but it is important to get the vaccine and continue to follow the guidelines. The latest data from Public Health England is that 31 cases of the Indian variant (B.1.617.2) have been confirmed in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
