PLANS are afoot for a new festival this summer. Big Ideas by the Sea is a new environmental and creative festival that organisers say will bring some of the best speakers and performers from across the UK to talk about the big issues related to the environment, climate change, music and history. It is hoped that the Scarborough festival, which is due to take place in July, will become an annual event, and organisers have the intention of it becoming the leading environmental and creative festival in the North of England. One of the organising team, Kane Cunningham, said: We want to connect to people, to explore the idea of the sea as being a passage of ideas globally, a conduit for the exchange of culture, ideas, food, books, language, politics, beliefs and trade.
Crews were called to the incident yesterday evening FIRE crews were called to cut free a driver who had been involved in a single road traffic collision and was then taken to hospital by the air ambulance. Crews from Scarborough attended the incident at around 5.50pm yesterday in Lady Ediths Drive in the town. It involved a black Volvo C30 which was being driven from the direction of Forge Valley towards Scalby Road when it collided with a tree near to Yorkshire Coast College. The 28-year-old driver was trapped within the car and fire crews removed the roof so they could be freed. Fire crews used cutting equipment to free the driver.

Dogger Bank is not simply an offshore windfarm project, it is THE offshore windfarm project. Dogger Bank is an offshore wind farm site in the UK North Sea that will, once fully built, be the world s largest and most innovative. Located 130km off the Yorkshire Coast, the 3.6 GW offshore wind project will consist of three phases – each at 1.2GW, and will cover an area of 1675 km2, larger than Greater London.
The three phases were previously known as Creyke Beck A, Creyke Beck B and Teesside A.

•One Haliade-X 13 MW can save up to 52,000 metric tons of CO2, which is the equivalent of the emissions generated by 11,000 vehicles in one year.

GE Renewable Energy will establish its marshaling harbor activities at Able Seaton Port in Hartlepool, serving as the base for turbine service equipment, installation, and commissioning activities for Dogger Bank A and B.
The port will see the delivery of component parts for each of GE’s Haliade-X 13MW wind, including the nacelle, three tower sections, and three 107m long blades, for pre-assembly on-site at Able Seaton prior to transport out to the North Sea for installation.
