(Will Waldron/Times Union)Will Waldron/Albany Times Union ALBANY Utility crews are working to restore electrical service to customer who remain without service after Wednesday s powerful winds. National Grid had a few pockets of outages around the region as of 7:15 a.m. Thursday, with more than 100 in the dark in Albany, Schenectady, Colonie, Clifton Park, Glenville and Troy.  After the storms blew through Wednesday afternoon, National Grid reported about 2,100 customers are were without service, mostly in the area around in Albany and Schenectady counties by about 8 p.m.

Transformer Fire Closes Part of Rt 12

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption] Chenango county Emergency Services officials say the transformer blew at around 9:30 p.m. May 2, bringing down wires, damaging the utility pole and shutting down Traffic on Route 12 between County Road 46 and 32B. 379 New York State Electric and Gas customers in Chenango County were reported to be without power at  5 a.m. May 3. Authorities said the transformer “just exploded” and heavily damaged the utility pole.  There were no reports of injuries. The NYSEG power outage site indicated most of the customers affected could be restored early in the morning.  There is no word on when traffic will be restored on Route 12.
