OSWEGO One of New York state’s newest tourism websites, www.discoverupstateny.com, was recently recognized at the New York State Tourism Industry Association awards ceremony on May 6 for keeping tourism alive by alerting, updating and advising visitors about restrictions of the pandemic, from its lockdown to reopening.
Discover Upstate NY received the Award of Excellence in Overall Tourism Marketing by a Private Sector Entity. The website features more than 2,900 attractions including hundreds of restaurants, hotels, tourism attractions and historical sites, and focuses on family fun and adventure tourism throughout the cities and regions of Upstate NY, west of the Hudson River.
NY State Museum Unlocks Its Doors & Opens Again
The New York State Museum along with the Library and Archives have finally reopened after being closed for more than one year. That doesn t mean that the staff hasn t been working hard. They have been preparing for the reopening all along. It was nice to see lines, and crowds outside of the museum doors on Monday excited to visit the exhibits inside.
There are several interesting exhibits inside the New York State Museum including the 9-11 exhibit with the actual fire truck from ground zero, the Mastadon, Adirondack Wilderness, Minerals of New York, Birds of New York, Sesame Street, and more. Last summer, real-estate developer Redburn Development received 2,000 showing requests for just 93 units at its latest redevelopment project, the Kenmore Apartments, an 1878 Victorian building located in Albany, New York.
The building opened in fall 2020, and the rate of initial inquiries were more than double the requests for other newly available properties pre-pandemic, Jeff Buell, principal at Redburn Development, told Insider. He added that a lot of the building s interest was fueled by New York City residents looking to relocate.
