Ice cream fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Maine

YORK On Saturday, June 19, the York Police Department and the York River Landing will host a fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Maine and their athletes.
Officers and staff will be serving ice cream to the public at the York River Landing Ice Cream stand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds from sales and donations received go directly to Special Olympics Maine and their athletes.
Special Olympics Maine is a nonprofit organization that coordinates year-round training and competitive programs for adults and children with intellectual or physical limitations.
A rain date has been set as June 20, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The William & Mary Committee on Sustainability has announced the spring 2021 and summer 2021 Green Fee awards. With the promotion of sustainable practices at the forefront of these grants, the Committee on Sustainability members approved a total of $35,712 to be spent across a broad spectrum or projects, from academia and research, to operations that advance sustainability on campus.
Fifteen proposals were submitted for the awards, and 11 projects were selected including nine spring projects and two summer projects.
Since its establishment in 2008, the W&M Green Fee program has funded more than $1.7 million worth of sustainability-related projects. The Green Fee funds sustainability research, outreach, operations, and much more. The committee accepts Green Fee proposals every semester.
The magnitude of Saturday’s Commencement continues to grow on Elsie Woodward 21.
After all, it is the day her granddaughter Anna graduates from the University of Virginia.
It’ll be the first of two shining moments that day for the Woodward family.
In the evening, Elsie, 75, will graduate from William & Mary with a degree in kinesiology. Anna plans to be there throughout, from the traditional walk across campus before Commencement to the moment Elsie’s name is called and she walks across the stage at Zable Stadium.
“When I realized we’d be graduating on the same day, I said, ‘Dadgumit, this is just the coolest thing,’” Elsie said.
