Several Connecticut providers said they are not relying on the resumption of the J&J vaccine to meet their numbers. The state is hoping the “one and done” vaccine will still appeal to those who, before the pause, expressed interest in it for that reason.

Clinics across Connecticut to start taking walk-ups for COVID vaccine

Dozens of vaccine providers across Connecticut will offer walk-up appointments for COVID-19 shots beginning Tuesday. More than 50 sites will offer the on-the-spot vaccinations. Previously, residents were required to book an appointment in advance. For a list of providers offering walk-up shots, visit https://portal.ct.gov/vaccine-portal/COVID-19-Vaccination-Walkup. As demand for scheduled appointments wanes, Gov. Ned Lamont said more supply has been freed up to accommodate the walk-ups. Among the providers offering on-the-spot vaccinations is Community Health Center Inc., which runs mass immunization sites in East Hartford, Danbury, Middletown and Stamford, along with other clinics statewide. The Day - Correction officer from New London charged with sexually assaulting inmate appears in court

Email Submit A correction officer from New London who is charged with sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman while she was in custody at the Niantic women s prison appeared in court Thursday morning. Wesley Applegate, 38, of 100 Ocean Ave. was charged Monday with second-degree sexual assault in an incident at York Correctional Institution in November. He was arraigned in person at New London Superior Court on Thursday morning before Judge Shari Murphy after being released on a $50,000 bond, and pleaded not guilty. Applegate was arrested on a warrant by Connecticut State Police on Monday in Wethersfield. State police and the Department of Correction began investigating him in November after an inmate at the prison reported having seen Applegate having sex with another inmate on Nov. 15, 2020, according to an arrest warrant. It is illegal for a correction officer to have sex with an inmate, even if it is consensual.
