Kevin Israel is worried about the increasingly hostile nature of political discourse especially in the wake of the 2020 election and especially on social media platforms. With the proliferation of hostility online, I want to show problems were solved in what we now call simpler times, Israel, a 45-year-old New Jersey public relations executive who specializes in crisis management and has a 20-year career as a stand-up comedian.
On July 1, Israel will join five other people from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Delaware in sharing a personal story about his experience during the New England and Atlantic Storytellers project s My Family, My Culture. Rep. Scott Perry voted this week against a plan to give Congressional Gold Medals to the U.S. Capitol Police and the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department for their service during the Jan. 6 riot.
The House of Representatives passed the proposal Tuesday with bipartisan support, but Perry, a Pennsylvania Republican from York County, was one of 21 Republicans who voted no.
The congressman told a Politico reporter, it’s all politics, it’s all garbage when asked about the bill. He also appeared on a Fox News station Wednesday morning and said he largely opposed the legislation because it politicized the officers’ service while in uniform.
