Dominick Zator hopes the road to the national team leads through Sweden.
That s why the 26-year-old defender is wearing the colours of Vasalunds IF these days, on loan from York United FC ahead of the 2021 Canadian Premier League season.
Zator signed with York on Feb. 1 after two years with Cavalry FC in his hometown of Calgary. Two days later he was on a plane to Sweden and played some 65 minutes in Vasalunds 2-0 victory over Djurgarden in a pre-season game last Sunday.

A former Canada U-17, U-20 and U-23 international, the 26-year-old from Brampton, Ont., has won four caps with the senior side â most recently in an October 2017 friendly against El Salvador.
York United FC. meanwhile, signed midfielder Noah Verhoeven to a two-year contract, with an option for a further year. The 21-year-old from Surrey, B.C., spent the last two seasons with Pacific FC, making 30 appearances in all competitions including 24 starts.

HAMILTON - Canadian defenders Kwame Awuah and Dominic Samuel will be back with Canadian Premier League champion Forge FC for the 2021 season.
The Hamilton-based team picked up contract options on both players.
In other Canadian Premier League news Tuesday, York United FC has sent newly signed defender Dominick Zator to Sweden s Vasalunds IF on a short-term loan.
I think Dom is a phenomenal addition to the roster and we are delighted to welcome him to the club, York president and GM Angus McNab said in a statement. He’s really been a standout performer in the league and I honestly feel we are all very fortunate that he’s chosen to continue his career here at York United.
Zator joins newcomers Chrisnovic N sa and Ryan Lindsay at York, which lost former captain Luca Gasparotto to retirement after last season.
Zator was called up by Canadian coach John Herdman in November 2019 but did not see action.
