Rio Tinto (ASX, NYSE, LON: RIO) announced that its 52-year-old ISAL smelter in Iceland received a responsible aluminium production certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The Initiative is a 160-member global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards setting and certification organization that works towards the responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium following an entire value chain approach. The designation has a provisional status and follows an independent, third-party desktop audit by ERM CVS.

The certification continues Rio Tinto’s leadership of the industry on responsible aluminium production from mine to metal, and means customers can be assured aluminium produced at ISAL meets independent environmental, social and governance standards. ISAL has achieved ASI Performance Standard certification with provisional status, following an independent, third party ‘desk top’ audit by ERM CVS. An onsite audit will be completed when possible after the easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Gladstone land values drop 7 8% -don t reflect market now

Land valuations for the Gladstone region have been issued by the Queensland Valuer General, with a decline in value in most localities attributed to the timing of the assessments. The valuations have been dated October 1, 2020, which was before the Gladstone property market reached its current and significantly higher level. “The Valuer-General released land valuations for 28,429 properties with a total value of $3,536,001,969 in the Gladstone Regional Council area,” the Valuer General’s department said in a statement. “The valuations reflect land values at October 1, 2020, and show that Gladstone Regional Council has decreased by 7.8 per cent overall since the last valuation in 2018.”
