The time is ripe to bring hops back to Yamanashi

Apr 24, 2021 Dave Prucha’s work day begins at the crack of dawn, when he heads out to tend his hop plants in rural Yamanashi Prefecture, on his farm, Obina Hops. Prucha purchased land in Obina, just outside of the city of Kofu, 12 years ago after falling in love with the scenery and the warmhearted locals. He had already been taking groups of students out to the area to learn about rice cultivation as part of his course on sustainable business for Takushoku University in Tokyo, and the San Francisco native and lover of craft beer eventually saw a chance to immerse himself in a new venture bringing back domestic hop production to the region and starting his own microbrewery in Kofu.

While residents are concerned about the vaccination status in their local communities, there have been voices within local governments saying that it would be problematic if detailed vaccination numbers by municipality are announced.

(Mainichi/Yohei Koide) TOKYO The mother of a girl who went missing on a family camping trip in September 2019 has filed suit at the Tokyo District Court demanding U.S. social media giant Twitter Inc. reveal the identities of users who slandered her online over her daughter s disappearance. I was wounded by the swords of people s words online, 38-year-old Tomoko Ogura told an April 20 news conference. I don t want anyone else to have to experience what I ve gone through. She added that, if Twitter reveals the information on her online attackers, then it will be possible to file damages lawsuits and criminal reports against them.
