Mysuru DC s Village Stay: Villagers plead for restoration of historic temple near Hunsur

Of the 1,000 pillars of Kashilingeshwara Temple, only 240 pillars remain now Hunsur (Terikal): The highlight of Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri’s Terikal village visit was the Thousand-Pillar Kashilingeshwara Temple. According to villagers, the temple dated back to thousands of years and was built by Gangas of Talakad.  Manjunath, a 56-year-old villager told SOM that there is a Vishnu Temple nearby built by Hoysala rulers. “The Kashilingeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Veerabhadra. The Temples were demolished by invaders who came from Persia and Afghanistan and the Temples were renovated five to six times by the Maharajas of Mysore,” he said. 

DC Office to move to new premises soon: Minister

Mysore/Mysuru: The magnificent heritage style multi-crore District Office Complex at Siddartha Layout on Bannur Road will soon house the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office. A meeting will be held with officials and district heads to move the present office to the new premises, said Mysuru District Minister S.T. Somashekar, who already has his office at the new Complex.  Interacting with reporters at Pathrakarthara Bhavan this morning, the Minister said that it was decided earlier that the office would be shifted after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides. “Now that the contagion has considerably reduced, the process of shifting the office will begin soon and I will call for a meeting and decide,” he said. 

Simmering discontent between MLA and DC comes to fore

Mysore/Mysuru: The simmering discontent between K.R. Nagar MLA S.R. Mahesh and Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri came to the fore at a meeting of Karnataka Legislative Assembly’s Committee on ‘Papers Laid on the Table’ in city yesterday noon. Mahesh is the Chairman of the Committee and the meeting was held at Zilla Panchayat auditorium.  It all began when Rohini Sindhuri sought permission from the Chair and excused herself from the meeting as the agenda of the day did not pertain to her Office. Sindhuri, who was seated in the front row as there was no chair for her on the dais, introduced herself and said that the periodic or annual reports pertaining to the DC Office or any other related Departments were not pending. As such, she sought permission to leave as the issues listed on the meeting’s agenda did not relate to her Office.

Infosys Foundation joined hands with the Mysuru District Administration and other stakeholders and has conserved the 48-acre Lake after the Foundation pumped in a whopping Rs. 30 crore funding for restoration works under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The Lake has now been brought back to life and along with restoration, the Lake campus has been beautified, re-attracting various species of birds. And like Kukkarahalli Lake and Karanji Lake, this lake too is set to become a tourist hub and a birding hotspot of Mysuru. 

Reinstate B Sharat as Mysuru DC: CAT orders

Reinstate B. Sharat as Mysuru DC: CAT orders December 16, 2020 Mysore/Mysuru: In a setback to the State Government, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Bengaluru on Tuesday directed the State Government to reinstate IAS Officer B. Sharat as Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC). B.Sharat who was appointed as Mysuru DC on Aug. 29 following the transfer of Abhiram G. Sankar, was transferred out of Mysuru just a month into his job on Sept. 28, with another IAS Officer Rohini Sindhuri taking charge as the new Mysuru DC on Sept. 29. Subsequently, B. Sharat moved the CAT questioning his  premature and abrupt transfer. The CAT which resumed hearing on Sharat’s petition on Tuesday, heard the arguments of the advocates representing the State Government and B. Sharat, following which it directed the Government to issue an order reinstating B. Sharat as Mysuru DC before Dec. 22, it is learnt.
