HOLLAND â Young Miss Five Hills Emily Kimball took the deepest breath possible, reared her shoulders back and thrust the kernel of corn out of her mouth in the Holland Corn Festival junior corn seed spitting contest. The seed of corn flew 12 feet, 10 inches, securing the first-place trophy from the dozens of competitors that entered.
Teen Miss Five Hills Angelica Torres dunked her head and shoulders all the way into the livestock bucket filled with water and came up with a corn cob in her mouth in less than 10 seconds, winning her first place in her preliminary round of competition and second place overall in the corn cob bobbing contest.
Former Copperas Cove Five Hills Junior Ambassador Hayley Sawyer donned her pirate hat as she danced and played her violin for customers as they enjoyed their cups of Yo-Ho Lemonade.
Smiles were bright on the faces of kids in the local area, because Last weekend was Lemonade Day 2021.
This year, many kids in the Fort Hood area set up stands across Central Texas, all with a goal of raising money for charity and maybe a little for themselves.
It was an opportunity for them to learn how to be an entrepreneur and work hard at something that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
The 2021 Young Miss Five Hills Emily Kimball set her âForget Me Notâ Lemonade stand in front of Frames & Things at the Copperas Cove Terrace Shopping Center. She sold lemonade to raise money for Alzheimerâs and dementia research because her grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimerâs five years ago and a few years ago, she was put in a nursing home.

Dozens of children across the Copperas Cove, Killeen, Fort Hood and Harker Heights area got down to business selling lemonade and lemon-themed treats as part of Lemonade Day weekend.
There were several stands set up throughout Copperas Cove Saturday and Sunday.
Davira Rios, a first grader at Clements/Parsons Elementary, held her lemonade stand, called Davira’s Lemonade, at her house on Sunday afternoon. This was her third year participating in Lemonade Day, and she was excited to be able to make money selling lemonade. Davira sold lemonade and cherry limeade along with cupcakes and cake pop bites for donations.
