A 34-year-old Bethlehem man accused of breaking into an Easton home while armed with a knife is now charged with the break-in and attempted sexual assault, authorities report.
Clement Swaby, of the 600 block of Hayes Street and formerly of Palm Beach County in Florida, broke into a home March 5 in the 400 block of McCartney Street in Easton and attempted to sexually assault two females, Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck said in a news release.

For the second time in less than two weeks, a male intruder armed with a knife entered an occupied home early Friday in the 400 block McCartney Street on Easton’s College Hill.
The entry was reported at 6:42 a.m. and nearby Lafayette College went into lockdown, an alarm sounding at 7:29 a.m. accompanied by an announcement. The lockdown was lifted about 9 a.m., a college spokesman confirmed.

UPDATE: Easton police on Friday afternoon released a photo of the man they say was armed with a knife when he entered an apartment earlier in the day in the 400 block of McCartney Street.
He “encountered two occupants” before fleeing south on McCartney, then east on Parsons Street and north of Cattell Street, Lt. Matthew Gerould said.
