Joel Morales, a spokesperson for the McAllen Police Department.  The suspension comes after DPS troopers arrested Marlen Maldonado just after 2 a.m. Monday, according to Lt. Olivarez with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Maldonado was placed on suspension without pay by Chief Victor Rodriguez. 

Face masks no longer required at most City of McAllen facilities

As a result of Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order issued on Tuesday, face masks will no longer be required to be worn by the public, and most employees inside City of McAllen facilities being at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 21.

A four-day undercover investigation with the McAllen Police Department led to the arrest of two people on charges of online solicitation of a minor, police said. Minnesota Mayor: Police Do Not Necessarily Need Weapons During Traffic Stops

14 Apr 2021 Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott told reporters Tuesday that he does not believe officers need to have weapons during every traffic stop. His comments follow the shooting death of Daunte Wright on Sunday. “I don’t believe that officers need to necessarily have weapons every time they’re making a traffic stop,” Mayor Elliott said in a video tweeted by the  Washington Examiner. The mayor also said officers might not need weapons in other situations as well. The mayor of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, suggests officers don’t need to be armed for every traffic stop or “engaged in situations that don’t necessarily call for weapons.”
