I’m honestly not sure Lawrence is the best player or even the best QB in this class, but the Jaguars have to pick him. The reality is, he has the largest body of work among the top prospects and the strongest consensus we’ve seen since Andrew Luck. To think otherwise and risk being wrong would be irresponsible. As a prospect in a vacuum, he checks every box. The only thing this pick lacks is an element of surprise when it’s announced.

2021 Mock Draft
I have been trying my hand at Mock Drafts, using fanspeak s On the Clock 2021 Mock Draft Simulator. Here is my latest effort. I tried to keep this mock as realistic as possible.
As you can see, I did not prioritize QB or WR. I don t believe that one of the five first round quarterbacks will fall to pick 19 - and I just didn t see anyone in the later rounds that I thought could be a franchise quarterback. I think that building the team and then spending draft capital on a QB next year is a better option than sending THREE first round picks + other assets/picks to move up for one of those five quarterbacks this year.

As many of you know from past interaction, I hold a Value vs. Need draft philosophy. I do not subscribe to the Best Player Available, instead feeling that the player selected has to represent a value at a position of need for our football team. An example of this would be if a defensive tackle or EDGE were the clear-cut best player when we were on the clock. Should we draft that player?.Absolutely not, as we are currently loaded at those positions, and the value DOES NOT match up with the need.
