An increase in coronavirus cases has been reported across the whole of Borehamwood since early to mid-December, with three out of four wards in the town among the 20 highest in south west Hertfordshire. Government figures also show cases are also on the rise in Radlett and Potters Bar, neighbouring areas of London, and extremely high in Bushey.
Parts of Hertfordshire have been moved into tier 3 very high alert Watford, Hertsmere, Three Rivers, and Broxbourne have moved into very high alert Tier 3 restrictions, the Health Secretary has confirmed. The areas of Hertfordshire will move into the new tougher restrictions from 12.01am on Wednesday, Matt Hancock announced in the Commons, along with London and parts of Essex. A tier review was not expected to be announced until Wednesday but rising infection rates saw them bring the announcement forward by two days. It means pubs and restaurants in the four areas of Hertfordshire will close except for delivery and takeaway.
