THE people of Ramsbottom really are the salt of the earth just ask well-known former local publican Jim Cunliffe who just days after moving back to the town had his shopping paid for when his debit card was declined. The retired landlord of the Corner Pin Pub in Stubbins was left feeling embarrassed when his card was rejected at Morrisons Supermarket on Friday at around 7pm. after he put in the incorrect PIN until the shopper behind him stepped forward and offered to pay the bill. Jim, who founded and still organises the internationally famous World Black Pudding Throwing Companionships was left overwhelmed with the gesture.

There are many ways that a shopper can save some money on their weekly food shop including picking up items from the reduced section and using loyalty cards to help build points. Co-Founder of money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk, Tom Church, explained: “It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with your food shopping but don’t let all the best offers fall under the radar.” The expert has shared top tips on how customers can save extra money when shopping at Morrisons.
The supermarket has also increased the capacity of its meal delivery service for school children entitled to free school meals whilst schools remain closed.
The Morrisons School Box costs £15 and delivers £15 worth of food to the children who need it most.
It has been developed in partnership with Morrisons nutritionist Dr Hayley Marson to ensure the items included are nutritious.
Schools in England can claim back the costs from the government as part of the free school meals programme.

Morrisons is now providing those eligible with more food than ever to help then while the schools are closed.
It is also part of a crack down on customers who are not wearing masks in stores.
Morrisons colleagues will also wear face coverings when inside the supermarket.
Posting a video on Twitter, the supermarket giant shared an update for shoppers.
It explained the shopping rules that should be followed for all visiting branches.
