Monmouth County Library plans virtual programs during March
The Monmouth County Library is “marching into March” with a new series of virtual programs featuring everything from meeting Eleanor Roosevelt and a pair of Irish immigrants to gardening tips, yoga and celebrating female lighthouse keepers.
With indoor visits to the county library’s headquarters and branches still limited because of state regulations during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the library staff has produced a variety of programs which are offered at no cost and conducted on a virtual platform, according to a press release.

• New Jersey Blood Services, which provides blood for local patients, is looking for a few good volunteers. Blood drive volunteers assist donors with registration and/or at the refreshment area. No medical background necessary. Volunteers should be outgoing to provide friendly customer service and be able to perform tasks as needed. Must have transportation. All training is provided. • Citizens for Informed Land Use, in conjunction with Holmdel’s Green Team, will host a Zoom talk about New Jersey’s Plastic Pollution Reduction Act on Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Nandini Checko, project director at the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, will explain components of the nation’s strictest single-use plastics law which will take effect in May 2022. • The Monmouth County Park System will host The Casual Birder on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. at Crosswicks Creek Park, meet in the Province Line Road parking area in Allentown (Upper Freehold Township). Join a park system naturalist for a laid-back morning bird walk. The event will take place in light rain or snow, so dress for the weather. Open to all
