Harbor Freight moving into former Cost-U-Less building
Sonora, CA – The vacant Cost-U-Less building in Sonora has a new tenant – Harbor Freight Tools.
The building, located in the Sonora Plaza Shopping Center on Mono Way, is between the new Wilco Farm Store, slated to open this spring, and the Be Wok restaurant. City officials tell Clarke Broadcasting that the retailer submitted its application on Dec. 14th.

Sonora, CA – The Sonora Planning Commission gave its approval for one new construction project and two businesses to expand their products.
At its meeting this week, in a 3-0 vote, the commissioners recommended the city council approve an amendment to the Hazy Bulldog Farms, LLC marijuana dispensary on Mono Way to sell recreational pot. The city council approved the change to allow limited adult sales in November, allowing up to three different dispensaries in the city.

Updated Wilco Store in Sonora
Update at 7 p.m.: Wilco Store spokesperson Jake Wilson responded to Clarke Broadcasting for more details regarding the 35 new jobs that are available. Regarding the types of positions and pay range, he detailed, “We always pay above minimum wage, so roughly forty percent of the positions are full-time and then sixty percent are part-time. Some of the position types would be like our department heads.” He specified the pay range is minimum wage to over $45,000 salary jobs including department heads, clerks, stockers, and cashiers.

Prescribed fire near Pinecrest
Sonora, CA The Stanislaus National Forest has several burn piles ignited today as part of its prescribed fire efforts.
The forest aims to conduct prescribed burns, and do pile burning, during the cooler and drier months in order to improve the health of the forest.
Spokesperson Diana Fredlund says burning is underway today in the Summit/Mi-Wok Ranger District on the Pinecrest Fuelbreak located west of Pinecrest Lake Road, and near Crabtree Road. Smoke has been visible in the area (photo taken along Mono Way). In the Groveland District there is burning at Femmon’s Meadow near Jawbone Ridge. On the Calaveras Ranger District there is burning near Sand Flat Campground and Camp Wolfeboro.
