THAMESFORD, ONT Only broken pieces of plastic remain at the scene where a pedestrian was struck in Thamesford Tuesday evening. The person, neighbours believe to be male, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries shortly after 6:30 p.m. before being transfered to a London hospital. A neighbour who lives directly in front of the crash site on Allen Street says he witnessed emergency responders performing CPR. OPP investigators remained at the scene into the overnight hours. The crash happened just north of a rail overpass, where a sign marks the speed limit as 50 km/h. Police say the pedestrian was walking southbound when they were struck.
The collision occurred at Killaneen, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim at 11am.
Gardaí are currently at the scene of the collision in which the driver and only occupant of the vehicle involved suffered serious injuries and was brought to Cavan General Hospital.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post-mortem is due to take place at a later date.
Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 10:45am – 11:15am to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 11am this morning, Tuesday, December 15 in Killaneen, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle involved, a man in his 70s, suffered serious injuries and was brought to Cavan General Hospital.
He was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem is due to take place at a later date.
