I am writing today to endorse Monty Bruell for mayor of Chattanooga. I have voted mostly conservative my entire life. In local politics, it has just become more of the same thing year after year. Every politician is going to make a change for the better, but not much has changed at all. I believe that Monty Bruell is the actual change that we need for Chattanooga.
If like me, you are tired of the same old promises by the same old people and are ready to see real and needed change come to Chattanooga, I urge you to vote for Monty. He has not just great ideas for change but an actual thought-out platform for paying for them and achieving them. The race for mayor is not just something he jumped into. He has been talking to people all across our great city for two years now and developing a platform around what they have told him.

Monty Bruell’s campaign has brought the fastest growing number of diverse voters together over the past few weeks I wouldn’t normally expect to see together at the same table. We really need that right now in a city that feels so divided.
But that isn’t the only thing that sets him apart that earns my respect. Bruell’s business acumen and fiscal conservatism make him right for the job. The fact that the Bruell campaign has made so much noise on a shoestring budget is a testament to his character, resourcefulness, and authenticity. People with that mindset are who we like to elect here in Tennessee, a state with the least amount of public debt per capita than any other state in our country.

As we approach the upcoming city election, I think back to last summer when hundreds of people marched the streets of Chattanooga. I’ll never forget the words that we chanted, painstakingly fueled by anger and desperation.
Power to the people! This is what democracy looks like! No justice, no peace!
Truthfully, until then I’d been oblivious to the racial disparities that exist in our society. I thought segregation and dehumanization were only things we read about in history books. I had to face the reality that I saw the world through the lens of white privilege. I’m glad I see differently now.

I met Monty Bruell in 2013 when he was a mentor for The Company Lab and I was a small business owner. My business, Dish T Pass, catered many events in the start-up community. We developed a friendship over that year and eventually began dating.
I had great respect for the work he was doing, coaching and mentoring small businesses and tech companies. I knew immediately that he was one of the brightest minds I had ever met, a thought leader and a definite champion for the underdog. While I was impressed with his resume and business acumen, I enjoyed his company even more.
