You could quite literally spend days exploring its nooks and crannies and never get bored. The town itself in an intriguing mix of quirky and laidback with dashes of the upscale, all the while feeling totally rustic and out-of-the-way. There numerous instances of culinary fireworks here, all alongside a seemingly endless array of natural surprises. Hiking trails, mountain scenery, soaring cliffs of intricate and engaging shapes, thick forests and then there are those beaches: from the miles-long Nehalem Spit to the northern edges where tides encounter the rock base of Neahkahnie Mountain.
Rarity on Oregon Coast Beaches, Sevengill Shark Washes Up at Gearhart

(Gearhart, Oregon) – A real rarity washed up on the north Oregon coast this week, discovered after a local couple were walking on the beaches of Gearhart.

On Wednesday, March 31, Coreen Mitchell and her husband were taking a stroll when they ran across a shark. They called Seaside Aquarium, and as the facility is part of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, it responded to the scene to pick up the deceased animal and investigate.

Two Rotorua motels earned more than $1 million in emergency housing funding in just one year, according to new figures obtained by the Rotorua Daily Post. The figures, released by the Ministry of Social Development under the Official Information Act, show what each motel earned in emergency housing in 2020.
The Grand Treasure on Pukuatua St made the most with $1.45 million being paid by the ministry for emergency housing between January 1 and December 31 for 906 grants relating to 183 distinct clients.

The conversion of hotels and motels to emergency shelters and low-cost housing would be eased under a bill that is halfway through the Oregon Legislature.
The House voted 41-12 on Wednesday to send the bill to the Senate.
House Bill 3261 would exclude the conversion of hotels and motels purchased for emergency shelters or low-cost housing from land use challenges in cities and counties. Lawmakers made federal money available for such purchases last year under Project Turnkey, which is overseen by the Oregon Community Foundation.

Lincoln City’s 2021 Festival of Illusions gets under way on March 19 and runs through March 28, with actual live performances (with plenty of safe distance involved) – and a large variety of other safe activities.
