WASHINGTON Russell Westbrook had the third game in NBA history with 20-plus rebounds and 20-plus assists – he and Wilt Chamberlain have the other two – and the surging Washington Wizards moved closer to Indiana in the Eastern Conference playoff standings by outgunning the Pacers 154-141 on Monday night.
Westbrook had 14 points to go along with his career-high 21 rebounds and career-high-tying 24 assists, his league-leading 32nd triple-double of the season. He has 178 triple-doubles, three short of Oscar Robertson’s record, with seven games remaining for Washington.

Russell Westbrook recorded his 32nd triple-double of the season with 14 points, a career-high 21 rebounds and 24 assists to lead the host Washington Wizards to a 154-141 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.
Westbrook s assist total matched a franchise record and his career high. The Wizards, who hold the 10th seed and final spot in the Eastern Conference play-in round, won for the 13th time in 16 games and pulled to within a half-game of the Pacers for ninth place and secured the head-to-head tiebreaker between the teams.

DETROIT The Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic faced off in a game that had some postseason implications. It wasn’t for the playoffs since both teams have been eliminated from the postseason but rather for lottery odds.
Detroit opened the scoring and looked to set the tone off of some aggressive play from Sekou Doumbouya, who scored four of the team’s first six points. But the energy faded and the Magic seized the opportunity to surge ahead with a big hand from its bench.
