Owner refuses to sell Raj Kapoor mansion for Rs15m Top Story January 27, 2021 PESHAWAR: Owner of Indian film legendry actor Raj Kapoor’s ancestral house refused to sell the house for Rs15 million. The landlord demanded Rs2 billion from the government. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has fixed the total value of Raj Kapoor’s house around Rs15 million. The PTI government had decided to buy the ancestral homes of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor in Peshawar and convert them into museums. The district administration had enacted Section Four for the purchase of both ancestral houses. An amount of Rs24 million has been released to the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday for the purchase of both the houses.

White Star PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs24 million funds for the purchase of the decaying ancestral homes of Bollywood legends Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in the walled city of Peshawar. The provincial directorate of archeology and museums had decided in Sept last year to transfer the ownership of two houses to itself through a colonial era legislation, which allows the government to acquire lands for ‘public use’. The government has planned to turn both properties into museums after restoration. A senior official told Dawn that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had approved a summary moved by the culture, tourism and archeology department seeking a special grant of Rs24 million for the acquisition of both properties.
