KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 The Royal Malaysia Police is keeping a tight control at toll plazas in the capital and at state borders via roadblocks to monitor interstate movement to help curb Covid-19 infections which stood at over 2,000 daily cases over the past few days. Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Azisman Alias said his department had tightened interstate movement following the instruction of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

KEPALA BATAS: Police detained seven men, all of whom are former convicts, on suspicion of being involved in a series of house and construction site break-ins, in two separate raids in Butterworth and Mak Mandin last Thursday. Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said, acting on information and surveillance since last week, police initially detained five men at a house in Kampung Perlis, Butterworth, about 10 am before raiding another house in Kampung Baru, Mak Mandin, where they nabbed another two. “The gang’s modus operandi was to break into houses and construction sites between late night and early morning before stealing valuable items such as machines and expensive construction materials which are in high demand,” he said at a press conference here today.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police arrested 21 Myanmar nationals for participating in a “water festival” in front of a house in Taman Bidara here yesterday. Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Shafee Abd Samad said acting on public complaints, police raided the place at 2.30 pm and found the group dancing and spraying water from rubber hoses on one another. He said those arrested included a woman, and they were aged between 20 and 30. “They were noisy and dancing to music blaring in the background. They were neither practising social distancing nor wearing face masks,” he said when contacted today.
