JUNIC Eye Care, a new community optometry practice offering comprehensive eye care services, has launched at the Junic Specialist Centre in Coombs.
Delivering personalised, full-scope optometry consultations with expert advice and state-of-the-art equipment, low-vision optometrist and orthoptist Juliet Menakaya says they’re now offering tailored low-vision assessment and rehabilitation services to support Canberrans who face daily vision challenges.
She says the new low-vision services and programs have been designed to address a gap in standard eye care services.
Junic Eye Care, a member of the Eye Care Plus group, is a supplier of low-vision devices such as hand-held optical and electronic magnifiers for day-to-day use, and powerful digital magnifiers for use in offices and education, she says.

Members of the Weston Creek community have raised concerns about why it took a murder in the area for police to start patrolling again as debate was reignited over policing resources in the ACT.
Murrumbidgee MLA Jeremy Hanson said members of his community in Weston Creek and Molonglo said they had not seen a police presence in the area for many years until the skate park murder at the end of last year.
“Anecdotally, there seems to be an issue with incidents in my neck of the woods,” Mr Hanson said during Committee Hearings on Thursday (25 February).

Woden Town Square can attract a crowd… stand by for the long shadows. Photo: Fiona Carrick
“With 24 apartment towers and about 10,000 residents due to appear in the Woden Town Centre, this government has not prepared the area for this new high-rise suburb,” writes “Canberra Matters” columnist
PAUL COSTIGAN.
IT has been about 18 months since I wrote a full piece about the Woden Town Centre and the ever-increasing planning issues that plague residents.

Still no-one in this government is listening or delivering on what some went to the 2020 elections promising – “Building a Better Normal”. Maybe the ACT Greens’ version of the better normal was always a degraded standard of living for Woden residents while being an even-better normal for developers.
