Assistant Public Defender Andrew Crabbs said a man jumped from behind the bushes at the edge of the courthouse parking lot about 5:30 p.m. and latched onto Assistant State Attorney Dayna Clarke’s back, wrapping his arms around her neck. The two fell to the ground, and Crabbs, who said he was the only one there, grabbed the man’s wrists and tried to pry his arms from her neck. The man eventually let go and ran off.
