Environment Canada is warning of extreme cold across swaths of northern B.C. while more snow is expected in the southern Interior, as Arctic air moves across the province.

This week, British Columbians will experience the coldest temperatures of the season. Temperatures in the Interior will be 10 to 20 C below the seasonal average, while coastal areas. including Metro Vancouver, will be 5 to 10 C below seasonal norms.(Ben Nelms/CBC)
Smithers cannabis shop green lit for Village Valemount location

Smithers Cannabis shop Rural Leaf is looking to expand outside of the Bulkley Valley with a location outside of Prince George.
Owner Alfred Schaefer attended a public hearing for the Village of Valemount last week virtually.
The Village approved the recommendation for the cannabis store at the Jan 26 council meeting.
According to the council minutes, council felt the location would have positive impacts on residents, businesses, economy and tourism.
Rural Leaf first opened in Smithers in October 2019 and Last November opened a second location in Houston.

VANCOUVER - Rain and snowfall warnings have been posted for several areas in B.C. heading into the New Year.
Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for Metro Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, west Vancouver Island and Howe Sound.
The forecaster says the rain will last late into New Year s Day, with total accumulations of up to 60 millimetres on the mainland and up to 110 millimetres for western Vancouver Island.
