This aerial footage from a drone shows bicyclists blocking the intersection of Dry Creek Drive and Lincoln Avenue in Modesto on Jan. 23.
Manteca Police are asking organizers of mass bicycle rides consisting primarily of tween and teen boys to contact them in order to have a “meaningful dialogue.”
The request that included Modesto Police Department drone footage of a Jan. 23 group bike ride in that city involving more than 300 bicyclists that gathered at a park before heading out onto the streets was posted Monday on the City of Manteca’s Facebook page. Modesto Police during the Jan. 23 ride arrested five, cited 14 and seized 19 bicycles for a long list of law violations.
The Modesto Police Department said that it received multiple 911 calls about bicyclists taking over all lanes on streets, not stopping at stop signs or stop lights

MODESTO, California (KOVR) Five people were arrested and 19 bikes were impounded after hundreds of cyclists took over the roadways in Modesto.
You couldn’t miss it. First gathering at a local park, the group steadily grew to around 300 cyclists who then rode out into the streets, according to the Modesto Police Department.
“To me, it’s just the lack of respect for the law, that’s all,” said cyclist Daniel Alba.
Alba, the head of Mid Valley Pedals cycling group, worried the large crowd will eventually lead to someone getting hit.

Members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation joined a Jan. 9 protest organized by Turlock Black Lives Matter demanding justice for Trevor Seever, killed in December by police in Modesto, Calif.
Around 70 people were at the rally outside of the Modesto Police Department, where Trevor’s family members called for defunding the police. Another speaker linked the murder of Trevor by the police to capitalism, which cares more about increasing profits than it does about humanity, and called for the abolition of the police. Samuel Garcia of the PSL highlighted how the system protects killer cops because ultimately police protect the interests of the capitalist class.
