Crews battling massive chicken barn fire near Ceres

CERES, Calif. Firefighters from several agencies are working to put out a massive fire at a chicken barn near Ceres, Monday afternoon.
As of 1:30 p.m., huge plumes of black smoke can be seen for miles, billowing from the chicken barn located on 28 Mile Road, in the vicinity of Dunton Road and Milton Road in northern Stanislaus County.
Several outbuildings are on fire, including the barn and large chicken coup, Modesto Fire officials said.
Updated: 8:58 AM PDT May 24, 2021 KCRA Staff Multiple departments battled a fire Monday at an apartment complex in Modesto that has displaced a dozen people, authorities say.The fire ignited around 4:30 a.m. at a complex in the 1300 block of Celeste Drive, according to the Modesto Fire Department.One building with eight units suffered significant damage, the fire department said. Crews from the Ceres Fire Department and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District helped battle the blaze.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Wednesday afternoon fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home, damaged a residential conversion and adjacent trailer, damaged four cars and killed two dogs. Fortunately, nobody was hurt or killed in the fire at the Golden Wheels Homestead Trailer Park, 3700 Collins Road, which broke out at 2:05 p.m.
The fire caused damage mounting to approximately $100,000, said Ceres Fire Department Captain Joseph Spani.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10
Modesto Fire Department engineer practical test was completed. Outside agency raters from three local fire departments helped us over two days. Modesto would like to thank Turlock FD, Stanislaus FPD, and the Ceres FD for helping make the test run smoothly.
Mountain Valley EMS provided equipment and scenario based training to Modesto Fire Paramedics. This group is also going to be training with our new hire academy class at the end of the week.
Modesto Fire Department conducted an engineer practical test.
2:17 p.m. – Firefighters responded for a report of a working structure fire on the 300 block of Hinkley Avenue in Oakdale. Crews arrived to find an exterior fire that had been extinguished by the homeowner. Crews checked the residence for fire extension and found none. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
