Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes indicated there is no real secret as to why Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have had so much success in the playoffs.
Mahomes said the reason behind their success is simple: they get open.
The star quarterback had his first media session for Super Bowl LV on Thursday, saying both Hill and Kelce have done a terrific job of creating separation and adding he has not had to force any throws:
“They’re playing really good football right now. That’s the biggest thing,” Mahomes said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “I’m just taking what’s there, trying to get the ball to guys in space. I’m never someone that kind of chooses who I’m throwing to I just throw it to whoever’s open. And so those guys have been getting open, I’ve been able to get them the ball. And I’m sure the Bucs have seen that as well, so I’m sure they’ll have a game plan to try to slow those guys down and we’ll have to adj

As the New Orleans Saints matchup against the defending champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, draws closer, Saints star quarterback Drew Brees remains doubtful to take the field on Sunday. If you ask Chiefs talisman Patrick Mahomes, however, the reigning Super Bowl MVP is holding hope that Brees is able to return sooner rather than later.
Mahomes had nothing but praise for Brees, as he admitted how he’d like nothing more than to be able to go against the legendary Saints QB on Sunday:
“I mean, it is truly special to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and to be able to consistently produce every single year,” Mahomes said, via Myles Simmons on NBC Sports. “Hopefully, we get to go up against him, I get to go up against him. But if not, hopefully we’ll get to face him at some other time because you want to play against those great quarterbacks you watched growing up that were guys that you looked up to in the way they played the game.”
