Two Georgia Democrats were sworn in Wednesday as the newest members of the US Senate, handing their party control of the upper chamber just hours after President Joe Biden took office.
With Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock who ousted two Republicans in a pair of January 5 run-offs being formally seated, the body now stands deadlocked at 50-50.

In just six hours on Inauguration Day, belongings of a departing president s family are moved out, carpets are cleaned, furniture is rearranged, fresh art is hung and the executive mansion is transformed for its new residents before they set foot inside.
But staff tasked with preparing the executive mansion for the arrival of President-elect Joe Biden and his family on Wednesday will do so under extraordinary circumstances: the COVID-19 contagion that has already infected departing President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and multiple White House staffers.
Recently, David Axelrod, a former Senior Adviser to President Barack Obama, published an op-ed on Brad Raffensperger. Raffensperger is the Secretary of State of Georgia and a member of the Republican party.
