WV man charged in death of 3-year-old stepson

SUTTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia man has been charged in the death of his 3-year-old stepson, according to court records. Samuel Thomas Workman, 33, of Sutton was charged Tuesday with death of a child by abuse and neglect, news outlets reported, citing a criminal complaint filed in Braxton County Magistrate Court. Crews were initially called to the home after the boy was reported as unresponsive, the criminal complaint said. The child was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. The child s body appeared to have bruising and trauma and troopers noted that Workman had fresh wounds on his hands and blood on his clothing, the complaint said.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang Supports Royal Seed Orphanage

  The 2020 running mate to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, last Saturday presented assorted items and protective equipment (PPE) to the management and inmates of the Royal Seed Orphanage at Kwao Bondzie in the Awutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region. The presentation, according to her, was in line with her passion to support the vulnerable in society and also help the home with their operations, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who is also a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, said the Royal Seed Orphanage had become the main facility helping with the management and training of orphans.

FDA Destroys Unwholesome Products In Koforidua

  The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Eastern Region has destroyed five tonnes of unwholesome products which they said posed risk to the health of consumers in Koforidua. Under the strict supervision of the FDA and environmental health officials in the regional capital, the unwholesome products were crushed and buried at the Akwadum dumping site near Koforidua. The products included expired and unregistered assorted food items, substandard and expired medicines, unregistered cosmetic products, unregistered herbal concoctions, expired blood collection bags and expired assorted carbonated drinks. Surveillance The Head of Enforcement at the FDA, Mr Joseph Yeboah Gyau, said the products were seized through post-market surveillance activities conducted at pharmacies and chemical shops, warehouses, supermarkets, cosmetic and provision shops as well as medical laboratories across the region.
