Central Valley Health District will continue second vaccinations for healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and first responders while beginning the task of vaccinating the next priority group, according to information released by the agency Friday.
Healthcare workers, nursing home residents and first responders were part of Phase 1A, people over the age of 75 are considered Phase 1B and first vaccinations for them are scheduled to begin next week.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Central Valley Health District (CVHD) reports that they have provided 936 COVID vaccinations since the vaccine first arrived on December 22, 2020.
Robin Iszler, Unit Administrator, reports the CVHD team have been working very hard to provide the vaccinations out to the community as soon as it arrives. “We schedule clinics and begin calling people as soon as we have vaccine in the door of our facility,” reports Iszler.
CVHD began administering the second doses of the Moderna vaccine to priority group Phase 1A this past week, which includes frontline healthcare workers, first responders, and long-term care residents and staff. “Those who received vaccine the week of December 22 were due for the second dose this week,” says Iszler.
Heinrich issued an emergency order effective Oct. 30, implementing several emergency measures to lessen the spread of COVID-19 in Jamestown. That included requiring face coverings for all public-facing retail and service employees, including liquor and eating establishments, while employees may come in contact with the general public. The emergency order was extended by the City Council on Nov. 2.
While the number of positive COVID cases has decreased in Stutsman County, Heinrich said now is not the time to abandon COVID mitigation measures.
“We are still a long way from elimination of the COVID virus in the community, he said. “Wearing masks has proven to be effective in helping to decrease the number of COVID cases in Stutsman County.”
