(WHSV/Augusta County Clerk of Circuit Court Press Release) The Augusta County Clerk of Circuit Court R. Steven Landes announced Wednesday, February 3, the creation of the Augusta County Court House Historic Records Fund. The clerk’s office also announced a new digital online historic record archive portal for county records. The records fund comes from a partnership between the Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office and the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge.

The Navy Federal Credit Union has selected Shapero, who graduated as an economics major in May and is currently a second-year graduate student at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, as one of four Army ROTC All-Americans nationwide. The ROTC All-American Award Program, created in 2018, honors the best and brightest ROTC seniors across the nation for their leadership, military excellence, scholarship and service.

(WHSV) Grants totaling $400,000 are heading to 42 nonprofit organizations in Staunton and Augusta County. The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge partnered with the city and county to help distribute their CARES Act money. Staunton provided $300,000 and Augusta County $100,000 to help nonprofit organizations with any expenses they’ve seen during the coronavirus pandemic. “This is just not only a financial reinforcement of the important work that they do, but it’s also to let them know that we really value the work that they do,” Community Foundation Director of Community Engagement Cristina Casado,, said.
