Austin Adventures this week launched a women-only trip to
Costa Rica in honor of
International Women’s Month. The tour operator, which just appointed new female president (
Kasey Austin) to the executive team, created this trip to celebrate and empower women to travel again when people are more comfortable traveling later this year. Austin Adventure’s inaugural “
Costa Rica Women’s-Only” trip will take place October 2-9, 2021.

Good news for travelers to the
Caribbean:
COVID-19 vaccination program, following the donation of 100,000 doses of the
Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from
India. It adds, with over 25,000 people approximately 12.5 percent of the adult population already receiving their first shots within just two weeks, the island leads the way as the most vaccinated country in the Caribbean.
The first wave of vaccinations was distributed to frontline workers, including those in the tourism sector, as well as the vulnerable population, including the elderly and persons with comorbidities. Now, all citizens over 18 are coming forward to get their first dose of the vaccine.
The interesting part is this: To ensure widespread protection, the Government of Barbados has signaled its intent to obtain more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for persons on island, whether they are citizens or not, by the end of April or early May 2021.

Belize has officially reopened its maritime borders for yachting tourism. The authorized maritime ports of entry will be San Pedro, Belize City and Placencia.
The reopening has been approved under the following conditions:
A licensed shipping agent is required for the vessel to enter; only shipping agents with special licenses are authorized to deal with these non-commercial vessels and are authorized to charge a set tariff of no more than $150 for their service
Notice to enter must be made at least 72 hours prior to arrival

Colombia recently announced it has joined the
World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as a
Destination
Partner. Through this partnership,
ProColombia, the government entity in charge of promoting international tourism, will work closely with WTTC to remove travel barriers, restore tourist confidence and provide a safe travel experience. It will also have the opportunity to get involved in the development of joint projects, share best practices and receive information and data made by the international organization.
