FRIENDSHIP Two artists, two interpretations of the memorable Maine Coast. In “Souvenirs from the Coast” works by Pam Cabañas and Graham Walton will be on display at Salt Pond Studio, in Friendship, from July 28 – August 8, with an artist reception, July 30, from 4 - 8 p.m., with live music by local musicians.
“Souvenirs” began with a fascination for the transfer ware china produced in the 19 century. This ware was very popular here on the Maine Coast and Cabañas has been collecting examples of brown transfer ware for years, marveling at the absurd imagery found on this dinner ware, serving dishes, and pitchers. Graham started researching transfer ware examples on the internet and was struck by the bizarre border patterns, complex design elements and sentimental imagery.
