Scholarship opportunity open to college-bound Marion students The Standard-Times The Marion Scholarship Committee wishes to invite graduating seniors who reside in Marion and plan to attend college in the fall to apply for the Marion Scholarship Fund, organizers announced in a press release. The scholarship is funded by donations from very generous Marion residents. Amounts will vary depending on the funds received. Details on how to apply can be found at your high school guidance counselor’s office, organizers said. Those interested in donating to the Marion Scholarship Fund may mail donations to the Scholarship Committee, Town of Marion, 2 Spring St., Marion, MA 02738, attention Scholarship Fund.

New COVID case at ORR High School makes total of 139 for district

The Standard-Times MATTAPOISETT  Superintendent Michael S. Nelson, Mattapoisett Town Administrator Michael C. Lorenco and Mattapoisett Board of Health Chair Carmelo Nicolosi reported in a Friday press release that the Old Rochester Regional School District and MA Superintendency Union #55 was informed of a positive cases of COVID-19 at the Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett earlier that day. An individual at the Old Rochester Regional High School has tested positive for the virus and is now self-isolating in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocol. The individual was last in the school building on Jan. 12. The individual’s test results have come back after being tested and the school district was immediately notified. Under state and federal health privacy laws, no further information is available about the individual.

These individuals have tested positive for the virus and are now self-isolating in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol. The individuals were last in the school buildings on either Dec. 23, Jan. 6, or Jan. 8. The individuals’ test results have come back after being tested and the school district was immediately notified. Under state and federal health privacy laws, no further information is available about the individuals.

Individuals at Sippican School have tested positive for the virus and are self-isolating in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol. These individuals have not been in school since Dec. 23. Under state and federal health privacy laws, no further information is available about the individuals.
