Ex-Eskom bosses homes have been hit after a court order, assets worth R1.4 billion taken.
THE High Court in Joburg has awarded the NPA’s Investigating Directorate (ID) a restraint order, valued at R1,4 billion, against former Eskom executives and Tubular Construction Projects contractors.
ID spokeswoman Sindisiwe Seboka said the freezing order, granted in terms of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act, was served and enforced on all the accused in Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Limpopo earlier today.
She said former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts France Hlakudi, the company’s former group executive for group capital Abram Masango, former Tubular Construction Projects CEO Antonio Trindade, businessman Maphoko Kgomoeswana, former Tubular Holdings executive adviser Michael Lomas and six companies owned by these individuals were served with the order.

JOHANNESBURG - Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola, is welcoming the UK’s stance on those accused of corruption in South Africa.
He says the action shows how much it values its bilateral relations with South Africa.
Michael Lomas, a former Eskom contractor, was arrested in connection with a R745m fraud relating to the Eskom Kusile power plant. Corruption buster Paul O’Sullivan joined the BizNews Power Hour to share his thoughts on the arrest. Currently, South African prosecutors are seeking Lomas’ extradition. A UK court will soon decide whether Lomas has a case to answer in SA, reports Bloomberg – Jarryd Neves
UK-based businessman Michael Lomas was arrested last week in connection with a R745m fraud, relating to Eskom and the Kusile Power Plant. Lomas appeared in a Westminster court where he was granted bail at £100,000, according to Bloomberg.

Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has applauded the United Kingdom (UK) and also welcomed measures it has taken in assisting South Africa to take action against people who face criminal charges, particularly the Gupta family and former Eskom contractor Michael Lomas.
It was recently learnt that the Gupta brothers were slapped with sanctions by the UK, particularly in the form of asset freezes and travel bans, which would make it impossible for them to channel money.
