Six Griffith affiliates named Fulbright scholars

Prestigious Fulbright scholarships have been awarded to six talented members of the Griffith University community. Leading academic Professor Susan Harris Rimmer joins PhD candidates Danielle Hill and Michael Lucas, Adjunct Professor Amanda Ullman, and alumni Dr Hayman Lui and Aaron Pereira as recipients of the 2021 scholarship. The Fulbright Program is a foreign exchange scholarship program of the United States, aimed at increasing bi-national research collaboration, cultural understanding and the exchange of ideas. Professor Susan Harris Rimmer Policy and Innovation Hub Director and Gender Equality Research Network co-convenor Professor Harris Rimmer will use her DFAT Fulbright Senior Scholar in Australia-US Alliance Studies fellowship at Georgetown University to continue researching gender and diplomacy.

2 men killed, over P100 M worth of drugs seized

SunStar (Contributed/PNP) April 28, 2021 TWO men were killed and P102 million in a drug bust worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) were recovered in a drug bust in Taytay, Rizal on Tuesday evening, April 27, 2021. Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas on Wednesday April 28, identified one of the slain drug suspects as Alvin. The other remained unidentified. The two men were killed allegedly after engaging cops in a firefight at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Sta. Ana Extension. Seized from the suspects were 15 kilograms of shabu worth P102 million. Sinas said Alvin was a “notorious” illegal drug proliferator in Calabarzon, National Capital Region and nearby regions.

P68M worth of shabu seized in Cavite By JOVILAND RITA, GMA News Published April 27, 2021 11:27am Courtesy of PNP PIO Around 10 kilograms of shabu worth P68 million were seized from a suspect during an operation of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) in Cavite on Monday. In a statement on Tuesday, the PNP identified the suspect as Michael Lucas, 35. The PNP said Lucas has been into illegal drug trade for more than two years and allegedly a member of a drug syndicate distributing shabu in Region 3, NCR, Mindanao, and other nearby provinces. PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said Lucas receives the supply of illegal drugs from a Chinese national detained at Muntinlupa through other cohorts.
