Hotels, early economic victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, are still struggling, even as thousands are being vaccinated each day.
About 35 percent of Rochester’s 5,666 hotel rooms were occupied in January, compared to about 56 percent occupancy in January 2020. Revenue per available room was down 44 percent compared to the same period last year.

A solo sailor rescued eight hours after being pitched overboard in rough seas off Australia has spoken of his ordeal.
The former Southampton sailor revealed that while he was floating in the sea he tried not to think of his beloved cat Stinky, who was left on the boat.
Southampton-born expat Nigel Fox has been praised by rescue services for the quick actions which saved his life.
He was located by an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) aircraft 23 kilometres from his boat after activating the PLB (personal locator beacon) attached to his lifejacket.
