A patchwork of COVID-19 mitigation rules develops in Illinois affecting people, businesses

Normal, IL, USA / www.cities929.com Dec 14, 2020 1:05 PM (The Center Square) – Some municipalities have put in place their own restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, including mask mandates, creating a patchwork of local rules. While Gov. J.B. Pritzker has said it’s up to local officials to enforce COVID-19 mitigation, it’s been uneven across the state. The governor s most recent mandate is for all indoor service at bars and restaurants to prohibit indoor service and for capacity limits on retail. Pritzker has said for weeks that the state can take actions against businesses not following the mitigation of prohibiting indoor service at bars and restaurants, but he’s taken little action. Some jurisdictions aren’t enforcing the rules, while others are.

Trustee s Request For Orland Park Mask-Wearing Mandate Met With Opposition From Majority Of Village Board

ORLAND PARK, Ill. An Orland Park official s request to look into instituting a mask-wearing mandate was met with some resistance Monday, Dec. 7, during the Committee of the Whole (COTW) meeting held prior to the regularly scheduled Village Board meeting. Trustee Dan Calandriello said he asked that the item be placed on the COTW agenda because of the recent increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Orland Park. Subscribe I was just thinking of ways we can help our community be safer, he said. As we know, Orland Park has a lot of visitors during the day in and out, bringing possibly COVID and then taking home COVID, and then us giving it to our other surrounding communities, including Tinley Park. Just recently, New Lenox implemented mask ordinances. I guess the key thing is to increase the indoor mask wearing, which will [help] our businesses.
