Maria Muldaur -
Midnight at the Oasis: One of those intimate hits which were sort of a precursor to what we would hear from the likes of Rickie Lee Jones later in the decade, and Norah Jones decades later.
Michael Martin Murphey -
Wildfire: A gorgeously arranged song about a girl and horse who freeze to death. The line when the singer says their respective ghosts are coming for him is nicely intense.
Walter Murphy -
A Fifth of Beethoven: A disco version of a well-known classical piece that, in theory, should have been offensive, but is actually irresistible.
Anne Murray -
Everything s Gonna Be Alright,
Johnny Lee s first collection of new recordings since 2016, serves as more than a trip back to the crossover-friendly country music made prominent in the early 80s by the John Travolta movie
Urban Cowboy. The Feb. 12 release also reminds us that well-written songs about dim lights, thick smoke, loud music, hope and family always connect with country fans, with or without mainstream buzz.

I started writing that song a couple of years ago, before I knew everything was going to go crazy, Lee says. I met Tony Ramey. We were playing a job in Fort Worth somewhere, and he came to my bus. I said, Tony, what do you think of this? He loved it, so he made up a couple of verses on the spot.

The National Western Stock Show had persevered through two world wars and a Great Depression. As the long summer of 2020 progressed, though, the prospects for the 2021 National Western Stock Show were fading fast.
COVID-19 case counts kept climbing. While promising vaccine trials were underway, it was clear that widespread inoculation wouldnât happen until well after those 16 days in January. We consulted with health experts and officials from the city and county of Denver and the state of Colorado. They confirmed what we suspected: that there would be no way to safely host even a fraction of the 700,000 visitors, participants, exhibitors, volunteers, and others who converge each year at the âSuper Bowl of Stock Shows.â
