Activists plan protest over Christian Hall s death after police shooting

Questions about the shooting of Christian Hall by the Pennsylvania State Police have not gone away since the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office ruled the use of force justified.  For activist Treandous T.C Cuthbertson, these questions demand answers: Who gave the order to shoot? When did Hall become a threat to the officers? Why did the statement from the Pennsylvania State Police say that Hall pointed his gun at them “when the video evidence disproves that”?  Hall was carrying what turned out to be a realistic-looking pellet gun when he was shot on a highway overpass on Dec. 30, 2020. His hands were raised when he was shot, and as far as the available video shows, the gun was pointed up and away from police.

Racial conflict of interest in Christian Hall case

It happened here. On the next to the last day of a fateful 2020, Christian Joseph Hall, a mentally troubled 19-year old employee at the Giant Supermarket in Bartonsville, mounted the edge of the nearby Route 33 overpass to Interstate 80.  Hall made an anonymous 911 call, warning of his potential suicide jump.   Within minutes, Pennsylvania State Troopers arrived and tried for more than an hour to convince Hall to choose life over death. They failed. After a burst of errant gunshots from a trooper, Hall raised his arms in apparent surrender. But he held onto a pellet gun which the police believed was a real weapon. He was shot to death seconds later. Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso presented the public with his findings in a convincing report on March 30, 2021 that included a video of the episode as recorded by the troopers’ body cams.

2 weeks ago Last week, the Monroe County District Attorney’s office announced it had cleared the officers of wrongdoing. The use of deadly force in this case was justified, according to the DA’s office, because the officers did not know the weapon Hall carried wasn’t lethal, and because he failed to follow officers’ orders. “It’s a testament to the troopers that they didn’t shoot sooner,” said First Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso during a press conference. The family and its supporters reject this decision, saying it amounts to blaming the victim. “You have a victim of gun violence, police brutality, and you also have a youth that is suffering from mental health [crisis],” said Kim. She connected those circumstances to the death of Walter Wallace, Jr., a Black man with known mental illness who was killed by Philadelphia police last summer.

These towns have the lowest property taxes in each of N J s 21 counties

These towns have the lowest property taxes in each of N.J.’s 21 counties Updated 12:00 PM; The average property tax bill in New Jersey was $9,112 last year, but some taxpayers pay just a fraction of that. Here’s a look at where people are paying the least in every county, which is measured by the average property tax bill. The average property tax bill is a function of a town’s tax rate and its average residential property value. The second yard stick is the equalized tax rate. Some towns assess the value of homes at about 100 percent of what they’ll sell for on the market. Others, however, assess homes at a much lower value because time has passed since the last revaluation. Those towns might charge a higher tax rate on its properties to generate the same amount of tax revenue as another town. So your tax rate could be higher than someone who owns a similar house in another town, but you may not actually pay more if your town says your house is worth less.
