Knifeman Simon Michael Hughes A KNIFEMAN who asked his victim if he wanted to be stabbed in the neck before demanding cash in the street has been jailed. The York victim said he no longer felt safe in the city after the attempted robbery, York Crown Court heard. Simon Michael Hughes, 43, had just been released from a prison sentence for two other knife offences, including threatening the owner of the Pig and Pastry in Bishopthorpe Road. Michael Bosomworth, prosecuting, said Hughes confronted a man in Bishophill at 8.30pm on August 14. Pointing a knife at him he said do you want me to stab you in the neck?” and when the victim said no , he added “give me your money”.

1/1 TWO thugs described as “feral dogs” have been jailed after filming a 20-minute revenge beating they inflicted on another man in York. One of the pair, William Irvine, now 20, was on bail at the time for city centre violence outside McDonald’s in Blake Street, York Crown Court heard. Michael Bosomworth, prosecuting, said Irvine, with Harry Clish, also now 20, pursued their victim down to the river bank near Lendal Bridge where they repeatedly kicked and punched him as he lay on the ground. “The victim is completely helpless. There is no sign of any response,” said Mr Bosomworth. “They were taunting him, filming him. it goes on for 20 minutes.”
Robert Ian Keeble slashed a man with a glass shard A HOMELESS man has been jailed for slashing another man with a glass shard and giving him a 15cm wound. The victim was trying to stop Robert Ian Keeble, 41, from climbing into his Tadcaster flat through the window at 11pm, York Crown Court heard. Before starting to get inside, Keeble had shouted to the victim: “If I get in, I will kill you,” said Michael Bosomworth, prosecuting. The victim tried to push him backwards. “Keeble started punching him repeatedly to the face,” said Mr Bosomworth. “Matters escalated when Keeble picked up a shard of glass of some length, was brandishing it and then slashed it across the chest … causing a wound.”
